Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Madrid, Spain, idealista’s online property portal enables agents and private individuals across Spain, Italy and Portugal to advertise their property portfolios in exchange for a recurring subscription fee.
Oakley has deep expertise and a strong track record helping digital marketplaces such as property portals to accelerate their growth.
In January 2021, we signed the acquisition of a minority stake in the business, alongside EQT and the idealista management team. This follows the successful sale of Fund III investment Casa.it to EQT in September 2020, which was subsequently combined with idealista’s Italian operations to create the number 1 property portal in Italy.
In June 2024, Oakley agreed the sale of its stake in idealista to Cinven, in a transaction that values the business at €2.9 billion. idealista performed ahead of its original investment case and, including prior distributions, Fund IV will realise a gross return of 2.1 x MM and c.22% IRR on its exit, reflecting current valuation trends in the sector.

Idealista’s business benefits from favourable underlying market trends and drivers including the digitalisation of advertising and content as real estate agents move from offline to online marketing, as well as strong network effects. This is particularly the case in Southern Europe, where structural growth rates are higher than in more mature classifieds markets like the UK and Germany.
Our origination network helps us source investments others cannot. Often, we are the first institutional investor in our portfolio companies.
